The Rosa Thermal Power Project – a key energy hub strengthened through advanced water control solutions to ensure uninterrupted power generation under challenging subsurface conditions.

Project Details

Rosa Thermal Power Plant has an overall capacity of 1200 MW. It is located at Rosa village near Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier a subsidiary of Aditya Birla Power Company transferred to Reliance Power in 2006, having 70.03% stake in it.

Challenges

There was heavy water ingress from the coal chamber located 24m below the surface. There is a portable water source stream on the surface from where the water was channelizing through the soil.

The 1200 MW Rosa Thermal Power Plant faced severe water ingress from a coal chamber located 24 meters below ground, caused by a nearby surface water stream channelizing through the soil. Advanced grouting and seepage control measures were implemented to seal the inflow and stabilize the chamber, ensuring operational safety and reliability. This proactive approach safeguarded critical infrastructure and maintained continuous power supply for millions.
