Restoration

The iconic Kolkata High Court, a historic landmark restored with care and precision to preserve its architectural legacy for generations to come.

The brief

The Kolkata High Court, one of India’s most iconic Gothic Revival landmarks, has been restored with meticulous care to honor its historic grandeur while reinforcing its structural integrity for the future. The restoration celebrates the building’s rich architectural character, enhancing its original detailing with thoughtful, enduring interventions. Highlights include the preservation of intricate stonework, refurbishment of grand halls and chambers, sensitive upgrades to infrastructure, and revitalization of key heritage spaces that echo the court’s legacy.

Every wing tells a story—blending 19th-century Gothic charm with modern restoration techniques to reflect both its historic significance and continued relevance: a true national treasure, and a privilege to safeguard for generations to come.

Scope of Work

Comprehensive restoration plans, conservation guidelines, structural reinforcements, and detailed architectural drawings. Material sourcing and heritage-appropriate finishes. Restoration executed by Geo Constech in collaboration with our skilled craftsmen, conservation experts, and trusted partners.

Natural materials such as sandstone, lime plaster, and traditional joinery, combined with restored Gothic detailing and rich heritage tones, create a seamless dialogue between old and new. This thoughtful integration not only preserves the building’s architectural authenticity but also evokes a sense of dignity and continuity, ensuring every restored space feels like an intentional extension of its historic legacy.
